About me

I’m passionate about building relationships with my physical therapy patients and my strength training clients. I teach them about their bodies to help them heal, to empower them to prevent injury, and to grow stronger both physically and mentally.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Francis Bacon, “Knowledge is power.” I truly believe that when people understand how the human body works and specifically how THEIR body works, it gives them their power back and reinvigorates their passion for using their bodies to do incredible things.

Briefly about my educational background, I earned my bachelor's in kinesiology at the University of Tennessee and then my doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) at Emory University, where my passion for injury prevention and patient education took off. After graduation, I completed a year-long orthopedic residency at Johns Hopkins University and earned my OCS (orthopedic specialist certification) in early 2022 and have been practicing as a physical therapist and strength coach in Nashville since.

My "why"

I met physical therapy after my first shoulder injury while wrestling in high school. After surgery, I healed, rehabbed my way back to wrestle again when I tore my other shoulder’s labrum. Another surgery, rehab, more wrestling and, wait for it… tore the first one again.

That personal experience of having the same surgery three times within the span of four years has stayed with me throughout my career as I remember the frustration and heartache from not being able to use my body to do the things I wanted to do. That’s why it’s important for me to take the time necessary with each patient to hear those frustrations, their questions, and their deepest motivation to commit themselves to taking care of their bodies.

My faith has led me to believe that our bodies are a gift from God so we can experience the beautiful world He created and spend quality time with the people we love without feeling limited by what our bodies can’t do.

Let's run!

During my time in Nashville, I have become an active member in the running community, which has led to amazing relationships with like-minded people and has sparked the competitive fire that I had been missing since high school. After 2 years of training, I achieved my ultimate goal of running a sub-3 hour marathon in 2024 (2:59:37 - cutting it pretty close!) And I continue to find new ways of pushing myself to be better than I was the previous year.

Being able to help other runners reach their potential is one of my greatest joys. Injuries are unfortunately highly prevalent in runners. While I’m passionate about helping people overcome injuries, I’m even more passionate about teaching and training so those injuries are less likely in the first place! That’s where I believe the combination of physical therapy and personalized strength training come in.
